Understanding the Dashboard

The dashboard is your home base in Petfolio. Here you can see all your pets, access their profiles quickly, and navigate to different features.

Dashboard Overview

When you log in, you'll see your dashboard with:

• Pet cards - A card for each of your pets showing their photo and key info
• Quick actions - Buttons to add pets or access common features
• Navigation - Links to your profile and settings

Pet Cards

Each pet has a card displaying:

• Profile photo - Your pet's current picture
• Name - Your pet's name
• Species and breed - Quick identification
• Age - Calculated from their birthday

Click any pet card to go directly to that pet's full profile.

Card Actions

Hover over a pet card (or tap on mobile) to see quick action buttons:

• View Profile - Go to the pet's main page
• Health - Jump directly to health tracking
• Gallery - Access photos and memories

Adding a New Pet

To add another pet from the dashboard:

1. Look for the Add Pet button or the plus (+) card
2. Click to start the pet creation flow
3. Follow the onboarding steps

Navigation Bar

The top navigation bar includes:

• Dashboard - Return to this page from anywhere
• Profile - Access your account settings
• Theme toggle - Switch between light and dark mode
• Help - Access the help center

Finding the Dark Mode Toggle

The theme toggle is located in the navigation bar. Look for the sun/moon icon:

• Sun icon - Currently in light mode, click to switch to dark
• Moon icon - Currently in dark mode, click to switch to light

Your preference is saved and will persist across sessions.

Mobile Navigation

On mobile devices, the navigation adapts:

• A hamburger menu (three lines) opens the main navigation
• Pet cards stack vertically for easy scrolling
• Swipe left on a pet card for quick actions

Empty Dashboard

If you don't have any pets yet, you'll see:

• A welcome message
• A prominent Add Your First Pet button
• Tips for getting started

Switching Between Pets

If you have multiple pets, you can:

• Click any pet card on the dashboard to switch
• Use the pet selector dropdown (if available)
• Navigate back to the dashboard and select a different pet

Quick Stats

The dashboard header shows at a glance:

• Total Pets - How many pets you have
• Account Age - How long you've been using Petfolio
• Join the Pack - Button to invite someone to all your pets at once (appears when you have 2+ pets)

Inviting to All Pets

If you have multiple pets and want to give someone (like a family member or pet sitter) access to all of them:

1. Click Join the Pack in the top right of your dashboard
2. Select which pets to include
3. Choose a role and generate a single shareable link

This creates one link that grants access to multiple pets at once. See Managing Team Members for more details.

Dashboard Tips

• Bookmark it - Save the dashboard URL for quick access
• Check regularly - The dashboard shows upcoming reminders
• Keep photos updated - Current photos help you (and sitters) identify pets quickly
